Supervision
& consultation
I have worked
as a supervisor of other counsellors since 1996 with Relate as well as
more recently, privately. As I have experience of a wide range of counselling
myself - adults, children, families, couples - in varied settings - voluntary
and statutory agencies, privately, institutionally - regarding both work
and relationship difficulties - I am well aware of the particular issues
for counsellors in their area of work and settings.
I try to
offer supervision that best meets the needs and orientation of each supervisee,
my basic approach is Systemic while encompassing Psycho- dynamic ideas
and offering practical ways forward. I see the supervisory relationship
as shining a light from a different angle which may enable
the supervisee to make choices on their way forward with a client. I dont
have the belief that I will be the one with the better answers.
I attempt to offer safety, challenge and equality.
I can offer supervision face to face if you are near enough or a mixture
of f2f and telephone or email/online. Or purely email/online.
I
would suggest that we have an initial discussion in one of these mediums
then if you wish to go on we can set up a number of sessions with an agreed
review date when we can decide whether to continue further. Fees are the
same as those for counselling.
You should
check with your accreditation body, if appropriate, as to whether or not
internet or telephone supervision is recognised by them if this is the
method you are proposing to use.
